Project Highlights
Park Point at RIT is an example of the newest trend in the real estate and university development, combining residential and commercial space used by both students and the surrounding community. Built on 64 acres on the edge of the Rochester Institute of Technology campus, Park Point features apartment-style student housing, dining, shopping, and services.
Park Point has nearly 1,000 beds and 67,000 square feet of retail space, including the 40,000 square foot Barnes and Noble at RIT Academic Superstore.
The plans to build Park Point at RIT began more than 10 years ago between Wilmorite and RIT. During the execution of the project, several environmental hurdles were overcome, including wetland mitigation and land-use permitting, which was one of the most extensive on record for a project this size. This resulted in 11 additional acres of wetland areas. Other environmental sustainability issues were also addressed, including the use of a geothermal heat pump for the residential suites.
Park Point at RIT was 100% leased on the residential side and 98% commercially upon opening.
